Happy Birthday, Beth!

Today's Birthday Girl is Beth Delozier-Hayes, founder of Manor Home. Each month we celebrate a local business owner on her special day.

Happy birthday! How will you be celebrating this year?
Our family is a bunch of beach bums, so we will be having a laid-back celebration at a house in Galveston.

How many candles are you blowing out?
42.

Manor is a home and lifestyle e-commerce haven full of gifts, home décor and more. Give us your pro tips for setting an Instagram-worthy table.
We love to follow the "SNS" rule of thumb for table setings. Something Soft (cotton table runner, linens, etc), something Natural or earthy (branches, pine cones, florals) and a whole lot of Sparkle (golden candlesticks, shimmery wine goblets, etc). Balance these three, and you can't go wrong. We also LOVE using a party favor as part of the place setting.

What was your background before starting Manor?
I studied theatre and was a professional actor for many years, but was always attracted to the scene design aspect of it. I started doing home staging and interior design work as a way to supplement my acting income, and ended up falling in love with it.

Describe your own home's aesthetic in three words.
Clean (just kidding that’s a lie) — cozy, sleek, inviting.

What products are you loving for fall and holiday?
I'm crazy about Holiballs. Our yard is going to be FULL of their giant colorful balls this season.

Your bestsellers?
Earrings, candles, table lampscustom gift baskets and care packages.

Favorite way you've seen your decor used?
The tablescapes that customers have created with our velvet pumpkins and trees are works of art! David Peck designed tables last year to complement his fall and holiday line, Carrie Colbert's rainbow pumpkin table has been a viral sensation for years, and Tony's catering surrounded their Thanksgiving Feast with a massive pile of pumpkins.

Your go-to entertaining dish?
Baked brie or Maryland crab muffins.

You’re a mom of three recently welcoming a baby girl. What are your favorite kids products that you sell?
Hands down our surprise toy bath bombs. These have been a best seller from the beginning, and I think I get just as excited about them as the kids do. Plus they’re the easiest way to get a kid into the tub that is refusing a bath :-)

Favorite place for family brunch?
Taste of Paris is my family‘s favorite. They have a s’more‘s crêpe that my boys are absolutely bonkers about.

We’ve all had them… Funniest #momfail?
I asked my oldest to  answer this question, and he reminded me that last week while making them acorn squash that I managed to shatter a Pyrex dish all over our food, oven and kitchen floor.

If you had one hour to do anything you want – what would you do?
Sleep.

Neighborhood you call home?
We live in the Lake Houston area, and I’m crazy about it. We have walking trails full of baby ducks, turtles and egrets. Having a glass of wine at a restaurant on the lake can easily happen any day of the week, and there are parks and playgrounds on the lake that are only minutes away.

Podcasts and series you're addicted to…
My current favorites are the Conan O'Brien Needs A Friend podcast, and of course Ted Lasso.

One thing people would be surprised to learn about you.
My legal name is actually Mary but no one, including my parents, has called me by anything but Beth.

Apps you can’t live without.
PicTapGo - for photo editing, Planoly - for scheduling, Canva - for design and Space City Weather - because everyone in Houston obsesses over the weather.

What's on your birthday wish list?
A new MacBook, this cute moto jacket, new running shoes and a facial for this tired mama.
