Eat & Sip

December 11, 2008

Despite our sun-filled afternoons, it’s officially cold here in Austin, Texas. Out go bikinis and Mexican martinis, and in with ponchos and Ponche, a Mexican mulled wine served at one of our most beloved get-it-and-go spots, El Chilito. Hot red wine infused with a mix of cloves, cinnamon and fruit, this drink will keep you going until first thaw. Grab a couple of friends and cozy up with a cup on the patio beneath one of their colorful blankets left behind for customers. For less than five bucks, you can heat things up with a large libation, or simmer down with a virgin version.

Bring on the snow, hold the salt.
