After our current daily downpour subsides and we are back to cursing these sweaty summer months, give thanks to Mother Nature that you live in a town with so many spots to make a splash. For years Austinites have endured the heat by soaking in scattered swimming holes. Here are a few of our favorite spots to take a dip this summer:

Hamilton Pool (map) – This natural pool is just 30 miles west of Austin and maintains the true Austin-hippy-vibe we all love. Recreate the scene from Cocktail under their beautiful 50 foot waterfall.
Deep Eddy Pool (map) – This classic is just as we like our beer: cheap and cold. Locals rejoice as the historic Deep Eddy Bathhouse is finally renovated, and the oldest pool in Texas is open for business.
Rafting on the Guadalupe – Head south to Gruene (map) and spend a day on the Guad. Cruising and boozing is a perfect way to cool your jets. Rent tubes at Rockin’ R, and don’t miss a post-float lunch at the Gristmill.
