A trip to Galveston need not be reserved for the sunny season. This coastal retreat will also go nicely with your winter wardrobe. You can take the sun out of Galveston but the “gal” is always needed there…

Shop

With many galleries populating the streets, there’s plenty of culture to be consumed. But what’s a vacation without some wardrobe additions? For some blissful boutique shopping, visit The Firm. Home to quality brands like Seven For All Mankind, Michael Stars and Kendra Scott, this is one stop worth leaving home for. Go for round two at ha.ba’s boutique where you can shop L.A. style clothing at low prices.

Eat & Sip

After you stroll and shop, break for lunch at the Mosquito Café, a local favorite for healthy gourmet. For late night fare, Rudy and Paco’s is the place to been seen while you sip martinis and delight in South American seafood. Don’t forget to save room for some after-dinner drinks and dancing at Club 21. It’s New Orleans-meets-Galveston at this martini and cigar bar.

Stay

For your home-away-from-home digs, rest your head at the Tremont House, located in the heart of the Historical Strand District. Hang at the European-style Toujouse Bar or take in the view of the town from the rooftop terrace. Another option is the Hotel Galvez, where old world charm meets a modern mind-set. Sip on champagne and enjoy fresh Gulf Coast seafood at this historic beach-front escape.

Livealittle

Celebrate the holidays Tiny Tim style, at Dickens on the Strand on Saturday, December 1 – Sunday, December 2. Set in the Galveston historical district, this 34 year-old celebration brings out the child in all of us. Take in the holiday sights and sounds visiting with the Victorian costumed shop owners.
