You say New Orleans, we say Nawlins. You say party central, we say Nawlins. With Mardi Gras on the horizon, we thought we’d pay tribute to a city where every hour is happy hour. Check out some of these hidden gems (no Pat O’Brien shout-outs here) and let’s show some love to a city that’s weathered the storm.
EAT
In the mood for some romance? Make a date at Lola’s, a quaint hideaway in the City Park area. Be sure to pick up your own bottle of wine before getting seated at a table topped with delicious dishes of paella and fideua.
The world is your oyster at uptown eatery, Dick & Jenny’s. Prepare for a worthwhile wait (no reservations accepted) for a plate of world famous fried oysters.
DRINK
Take a spin around the Carousel Piano Bar and Lounge. Located in the famous Hotel Monteleone, you’ll sip martinis at a circular bar that slowly spins. Just remember to exit the bar stool slowly.
If you’re a fan of Amy’s Ice Cream, take your love of frozen treats to a party level at Molly’s at the Market. Sip on a delicious frozen Irish coffee, accompanied by your choice of music from the jukebox.
BE MERRY
Dance your tidbits off at The Maple Leaf Bar. This is a quintessential New Orleans nightclub that brings a crowd every night. 8316 Oak Street – 504.866.9359
Another great choice for some dance floor fun is Tipitinas. This small joint will bring you anything from brass bands to indie rock.
Wind the night up (or down) at Preservation Hall. This bar is the heart and soul of New Orleans, and partygoers have been going here for decades to get filled to the brim with the sultry sounds of jazz done right.
Ever since we heard Ross and Rachel’s song, “With Or Without You”, we’ve been huge U2 fans. Check out the first ever live-action U2 3D concert film, shot in South America during the final leg of the band’s Vertigo tour, at none other than The Bob Bullock History Museum.
