Take a glance back at the history of New Orleans during the new exhibit launching at NOMA.

In between contemplation, stop by the New Orleans Museum of Art for the new exhibit Changing Course: Reflections on New Orleans Histories. The expansive vignettes celebrate the Tricentennial by bringing together a group of seven contemporary art projects that focus on the history of the city. On view beginning this Friday, June 29 through September 16, you'll be enamored with installations including artist Leslie Dill's "Hell Hell Hell / Heaven Heaven Heaven: Encountering Sister Gertrude Morgan," pictured, which uses wedding gowns and written text to put a thought-provoking spin on the life of the New Orleans poet, artist and preacher. The piece is also meant to be reflective of our city's long embrace of voodoo, mysticism and magic.

Another reason to hop to checking out the new exhibit, Friday Night at NOMA this Friday, June 29, 5 - 9 p.m. Enjoy fun moments like drumming by Luther Gray in the Ella West Freeman Galleries and music by rap and hip hop artist Alred Banks.
