If we learned anything from our witty WB gal pals Rory and Lorelai Gilmore, it’s that small towns can be full of big surprises. The next time you’re in the mood for a little adventure, gas and go to Georgetown. This sweet town easily bumps Stars Hollow to second place.

EATS, SIPS and SWEETS

For a fresh take on diner food, veg out for a bit at Monument Cafe. Instead of greasy specials that aren’t so special, this old school cafe-meets-diner has its very own organic garden, and serves up fresh fruits and veggies along with organic meats and fish dishes. Guilty pleasure: The Monument Chocolate Pie.

Grab a pre-dinner cocktail at the cool rooftop bar, complete with a 15 mile view of G-town, at Silver & Stone Restaurant. Located at the Tamiro Plaza on the fourth floor penthouse, this hot spot has a fab three-course meal (beer, wine and liquor) that pairs perfectly with the American contemporary cuisine side dishes.

Give your sweet tooth a treat from Galaxy Cupcakes. With daily specials and cocktail-inspired cupcakes like the vodka, cran and lime flavored Cosmic, or the Margarita-esque Stellar, you can have your cake and happy hour, too.

SHOP

Peruse the specialty gifts and gadgets for home and play at Annarella Home. Make room in your ride to take home everything from furniture and art to foodie accessories.

Enjoy a Texas-sized treasure hunt at Rough & Ready Antiques (map). Hunt and peck through decor of all themes. Whether you’re a Martha Stewart Town and Country type, or more the shabby chic shopper, you’re sure to find a collectible worth keeping.

ESCAPE

If you have a bit too much wine during your winery visit, make a night of it at the Harper-Chesser Inn. The quaint rooms with the floral detail and cozy accommodations are like a page right out of Country Living Magazine. Be sure to check out their cooking classes, where you’ll finally learn to master the beauty that is the scone.

Take in a show at the historic Palace Theater. Follow the glow of the classic billboard signage and enjoy a musical of Broadway caliber. Check out the currently playing A Little Night Music and swoon over a Swedish romance.

Face it—you’ve never really been able to spot Orion’s Belt. Star gaze with the guidance of the S.U. Physics Department during the FREE observation nights at Fountainwood Observatory. The next viewing is THIS Friday, March 5th, from 8 – 10 p.m.
