Make it a sake-style summer at Uchiko, sister restaurant to famed Uchi. Much like it’s older sister, this sure to be hotspot hosts an inventive menu ranging from sushi and sashimi, to hot and cold tastings to the tune of lobster gazpacho and sear it yourself wagyu beef.
When the moon hits your eye like a big pizza pie, that’s Spartan Pizza. This little joint is serving up slices with a sense of humor. Belly up to the vintage silver trailer located next to Red Shed Tavern and try out a pepperoni meets feta Cyclops, or go into a fromage frenzy with the four-cheese Aphrodite panini. Cash only.

Say hola to Takoba, the newly opened Mexican restaurant on East 7th. Owned by the same family that has been serving Austinites for the past 10 years at El Tacorido, this casa de cuisine is jumping with fun and fresh eats like prickly pear cactus pico de gallo, baja ceviche and pineapple-marinated pork, as well as breakfast specials. Check out the adult-sized sand box while sipping ritas during their daily 4 – 7 p.m. happy hour.
