Gimme Some Sugar

Here, the newest shops offering nostalgic mini cakes.

You're not exactly bragging on your blog about the last time you caved to a sugar craving. That frosting tin was already in the trashcan, sweets.

For your _public_ consumption, here are the latest cupcake offerings. We know, the mini treat is everywhere these days. But that doesn't seem like the sort of thing _you'd_ complain about.

What's Up Cupcake" />, a shiny Airstream trailer lined in blue twinkle lights, parks in an old car lot on the corner of Shepherd & 14th. Catch her Wednesday – Saturday from 2 – 8 (ish). She's on wheels so the hours don't exactly stick, but try to sample the chocolate molten variety, stuffed with an actual French truffle from Central Market. Holy sugar, it's good.

We like the warehouse-chic look of Celebrity Cupcakes just on the edge of Rice Village. The homemade treats are moist and there are several classic Southern specialties like Hummingbird, made with banana, cinnamon and a hint of pineapple, topped off with cream cheese frosting and a piece of pecan.

The hipster chef behind /pages/Galveston-TX/Little-Miss-Cupcake/269786130747?v=info" target="_blank">Little Miss Cupcake rolls her vintage pink truck into town from her spot on the Galveston sea wall to fix cravings in the Heights. You'll find her from time to time on 19th Street, serving up fresh flavors like brown sugar poundcake, apple pie and strawberry.

Popadoodle Desserts, a catering kitchen that also delivers, is in a brand new location. Give them 48 hours lead time and they'll come up with a bite-size dessert menu for your next soiree. The prices and presentation are fab, and we love the red velvet mini cupcakes.

And, please no Facebook updates about how many cute ‘cakes you gorged on in one sitting. We would hate for you to lose your status.
